Applications for Central Colorado Humanist 2027 Scholarships
Will Be Available Late Fall

  
The Central Colorado Humanists (CCH) awards several scholarships each spring to high school applicants planning to attend accredited two- or four-year colleges.  Applicants must be seniors at Buena Vista, Salida, or Cotopaxi High Schools, or a student in a non-traditional or home-school program planning to attend college next fall. CCH scholarship recipients are eligible for and encouraged to apply for our CCH Continuing Scholarship after the completion of their first semester in college to help them meet college expenses for their second year.


In spring of 2026, CCH awarded 9 scholarships of $1500 and $2000; six to high school seniors and two CCH Continuing Scholarship to a 2025 recipients for their sophomore year in college. (See photo gallery below.)


Scholarship candidates should have a 3.0 GPA and have exhibited some form of community service during their high school career. Evaluations will be based in part on the quality of an essay (limited to 750 words) to be submitted by each applicant. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the respective high school’s awards assembly in May.

2026 Scholarship Recipients

The Central Colorado Humanists presents the scholarship recipients for 2026. We are so very proud of these hard-working, high achieving, talented students and wish them well as they enroll in their freshman year of study. Thank you to the CCH Scholarship committee members for their hard work in the selection process.

Samuel Jones

Samuel Jones, Salida High School


Sam intends to study business and aspires to combine it with his passion for health and wellness, particularly to encourage others to pursue healthy lifestyles. He has been accepted to several colleges and universities, but his first choice is the University of Denver.


Olivia Van Dyke

Olivia Van Dyke, Buena Vista High School


Olivia intends to major in elementary education and aspires to be a teacher who helps students learn the value of kindness, respect and meaningful relationships. She has been accepted to several colleges and universities where she can pursue her degree and has chosen Fort Lewis College.


Violet Jacoby

Violet Jacoby, Cotopaxi High School

Violet is passionate about nutrition and human health with aspirations to become a dietitian who blends science with compassion and patient-centered care. She plans to attend Colorado State University, majoring in Nutrition Management and Dietetics with a minor in Sports Psychology.


Josey Kaiser

Josey Kaiser, Cotopaxi High School

Motivated by her compassion and desire to help her community and upcoming generations, Josey intends to pursue the field of special education and early childhood development at Western Colorado University.


Emerson Reed

Emerson Reed – Colorado State University

During her first year at CSU, Emerson has shown herself to be a compassionate, motivated and excellent student, maintaining a 3.9 GPA while pursuing a degree in Health and Nutrition.



Olive Richie, Harvard College

During her first year at Harvard, Olive demonstrated deep engagement with course material, impressive grit and independence in learning, and maintained a 3.8 GPA while pursuing a degree in either Molecular & Cellular Biology or Human, Developmental, and Regenerative Biology.

Pace Booth Delarue

Pace’s leadership skills as a student athlete, musician and community volunteer complement his strong science interests. He intends to pursue a degree in Quantum Engineering at Colorado School of Mines.


Daniel DeWalt, Buena Vista High School

Daniel intends to major in biology and focus upon pre-med coursework to fulfill his goal of completing a medical degree. His past experiences assisting volunteer medical teams in Nicaragua and his Spanish literacy have inspired his future goal of serving impoverished communities. He has been accepted at several colleges and universities and has chosen to study at the University of Northwester-St. Paul.

Orion Baxter

Orion Baxter, Salida High School

During his high school years, Orion earned statewide honors for his exceptional critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills. He also earned a scholarship for a summer class to study oceanography and the science of ship building. He has committed to Florida Institute of Technology to study Ocean Engineering and aspires to design fuel-efficient ships using materials and cleaner energy that will minimize the environmental impact of the industry.


Luke Regan

Luke intends to major in mechanical engineering to capitalize on his years of experience building machines from kits and a recent internship at a 3D house printing company where he gained hands-on experience shadowing mechanical engineers. He has been accepted at several universities where he can pursue his degree and has chosen Montana State University.

Carson McConathy

Carson McConathy, Salida High School

Carson has a strong background in science with an interest in a STEM career. He intends to major in Biomedical Engineering to combine science with problem solving.  Having earned acceptance at several universities he has chosen to attend Colorado State University.
