Our speaker for Sunday Science on July 5 will be Cailey McDermott, editor of the Mountain Mail.  McDermott is a native of Vermont and she earned a journalism degree from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. She moved to Salida in 2010 and soon after earned a position at The Mail, where she worked as a reporter for three years.

McDermott then operated her own photography and magazine publishing businesses before coming back to The Mail in 2023 to serve as its editor.  She recently was named managing editor of the Chaffee County Times, and she will continue her position as editor at The Mail.

Cailey will be speaking from the perspective of an editor and journalist on the media, communication, and human behavior.

Sunday Science takes place at A Church in Salida, at the corner of 4th and D Streets. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the talk will start at 10 a.m. The Sunday Science Hospitality Committee welcomes any contributions to the “treat table,” including fruit and baked goods.
