Central Colorado Humanists is an organization of people from Chaffee County and the surrounding area who believe in the dignity of human beings and their corresponding responsibility to live in accordance with the goals of Humanism.
We are primarily non-theist, in that we follow a philosophy free of supernaturalism, and believe that human goals and values are best developed within the context of individual and community needs. We welcome anyone interested in Humanism to explore our site, and then feel free to join us in any of the activities described. Thanks for visiting! Another way to keep in touch...

Announcing...
CCH Scholarship Recipients! 2020 was a record year for CCH! We raised $11,000 in scholarship funds through our annual yard sale, community events and member donations. Our scholarship committee received double the number of applications over previous years, and competition was stiff. In the end, we awarded eight $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors from Buena Vista High School (BVHS), Cotopaxi High School (CHS), and Salida High School (SHS). These students have been high achievers in academics, sports, music, and community service. We also awarded four $750 continuing scholarships to last year’s recipients for their sophomore year of college. Each scholarship awardee is shown below (hover, then click 'Play' for a slideshow), along with their college, field of study, and a brief comment in their own voice. Congratulations and best of luck to all! Click here for the complete list of all winners.
We can take great pride in these high school graduates and continuing college students. They represent the values of humanism and of our community. Sincere thanks to their parents and teachers who have invested well in their futures, to the hard work of the CCH scholarship committee members who selected them, and to everyone who donated and helped make this possible. Thank you! We are proud to be a chapter of the American Humanist Association. Latest from them:

* Jim Costello was a scientist and teacher who loved bringing the simple beauty and rationality of science to life as a founder of CCH's Sunday Science program, as a member of the CCH book club, and as a CCH board member. He loved the idea of honoring Charles Darwin each February by bringing a speaker on a scientific topic to Chaffee County. Donations to his memorial fund will help support Sunday Science and our annual Darwin Day celebration.
