DESCRIPTION:Our speaker for Sunday Science on July 5 will be Cailey McDermott\, editor of the Mountain Mail.  McDermott is a native of Vermont and she earned a journalism degree from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester\, Vermont. She moved to Salida in 2010 and soon after earned a position at The Mail\, where she worked as a reporter for three years. \nMcDermott then operated her own photography and magazine publishing businesses before coming back to The Mail in 2023 to serve as its editor.  She recently was named managing editor of the Chaffee County Times\, and she will continue her position as editor at The Mail. \nCailey will be speaking from the perspective of an editor and journalist on the media\, communication\, and human behavior. \nSunday Science takes place at A Church in Salida\, at the corner of 4th and D Streets. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the talk will start at 10 a.m. The Sunday Science Hospitality Committee welcomes any contributions to the “treat table\,” including fruit and baked goods.

Check your newsletter for location and directions. \nThe brunch topic is: \nKnowing what we know now\, if we could have mingled among the Founding Fathers in 1787 in Philadelphia as our Constitution was being written\, what advice might we have offered to make for a sturdier\, more bullet-proof document to save and protect our democracy? \nCopies of the Constitution will be distributed to those who don’t already have one. \nThe discussion is being led by Dan Bishop. \nAs usual\, brunch\, from 10 to 11\, is potluck\, so please bring a dish to share. If possible\, also your own plates and utensils. The hosts will provide beverages including coffee and tea.
